Lexus Safety And Technology: Lexus Safety System+
Lexus first introduced the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) on the redesigned 2016 Lexus RX, and have been continuing to improve safety standards ever since. After the LSS+, Lexus released LSS+ 2.0 (available on 2020 and newer models), LSS+ 2.5 (introduced on the Lexus IS), and the latest LSS+ 3.0.
The LSS+ is comprised of four main safety systems:
- Pre-Collision System
- Lane Assistance Technologies
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Automatic High Beam
Let’s explore these safety systems in our most advanced suite yet, the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0.
Pre-Collision System
Firstly, the Lexus Pre-Collision System can detect and warn the driver of other vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians on the road with Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. When turning right, it can detect oncoming pedestrians and bicyclists. Moreover, it also includes Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, allowing for additional steering assistance when an evasive steering maneuver is detected.

Lane Assistance Technologies
The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is equipped with Lane Departure Alert and Lane Tracing Assist, with enhanced line and road recognition. This technology allows for even greater steering assist to help keep you centred and in your lane. This feature has made great improvements since the original LSS+, with an even greater ability to recognize the line of travel.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Meet your new Cruise Control! The Lexus All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management and Road Sign Assist. This safety feature allows for better speed management, smooth overtaking of other vehicles, and for select road sign information to be displayed on either the instrument panel or Heads Up Display.
Automatic High Beam
All Lexus safety systems feature Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlights that react to oncoming headlights or receding taillights and can switch between high-beam and low-beam effortlessly. Models equipped with LSS+ 3.0 also feature Intelligent High Beam (IHB) headlights, an even more advanced system. The high beams’ light distribution is automatically optimized, meaning high-intensity lighting can be focused away from other vehicles while still illuminating other sections of the road.

Firstly, the Drive Connect package includes Cloud Navigation with Destination Assist and Intelligent Assistant. Use Cloud Navigation, powered by Google Points of Interest (POI), to check real-time traffic and map updates. Use the cloud-based Intelligent Assistant through voice control to easily check the weather, dictate texts, search for destination coordinates and more.
Remote Connect
Need to remotely start or stop your engine? Adjust your climate control settings or heated seats in the dead of winter? This feature is incredibly helpful for Edmontonians. You can lock/unlock, start/stop, adjust, and more all from your Lexus App on your smartphone with the Remote Connect package.
